Are our actions different when there is a situation we can change versus a situation we cannot change? Or are our actions, in reality, the same? The emphasis is normally on what we can or cannot change – not the acceptance of everything as it is first. Excellent follow-up discussion after last week's conversation of the Metamorphosis story. We discussed the serenity prayer in depth, including the rarely mentioned second stanza. The second stanza of the serenity prayer is included below.
God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
